Dell Predicts Strong Adoption of Microsoft Vista
silicon.com on October 24, 2006
It may be no more than wishful thinking, but Dell CTO Kevin Kettler says he's "bullish" about enterprise adoption of Microsoft's Vista — and thus about sales of his company's gear. (We can't help but think of another common usage of "bull" here.) One factor that will make Vista an "easy sell-up," says Kettler, is the option to run different versions of the OS depending on the hardware. Companies can buy less expensive versions of Vista for older gear and spring for the costlier versions for new PCs, Kettler says. Dell believes that Vista adoption will be driven by folks who try it first at home and then lobby to get it at the office.
