Big Blue Makes Push for Patent Reform

IBM, the biggest filer of non-Federal patents for 13 years running, is looking to lead a discussion on U.S. patent reform. The company launched a global initiative on the intellectual property market, claiming that systems were put in place to encourage invention but have failed to evolve to protect developed goods. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has acknowledged delays dealing with the volume of applications and finding suitable staff to assess them.
