With Third Quarter Results, HP Reclaims Top Spot in Global PC Sales
InfoWorld on October 19, 2006
HP overtook Dell in worldwide computer sales in the third quarter, according to two separate market data reports. The margin was close -- 16.3 percent market share vs. 16.1 percent, according to Gartner -- but still represents the first time HP has been in the lead since the end of 2003. The second report, by market researcher IDC, said it was closer still, with HP slightly ahead in worldwide sales, but essentially in a "statistical tie" with Dell, which both researchers said is experiencing much slower growth than HP.
