Banks View Tech Projects Through Business Lens

As the lines between business and technology blur, business managers are becoming involved in tech governance at some financial institutions, a move welcomed by the execs interviewed for this article. At Morley Fund Management, the IT department is split into three groups: one managing day-to-day functions, a second that works on new projects, and a third responsible for quality assurance and architectural design. Governance is even more critical in situations where IT functions are outsourced. ABN Amro, a bank that outsources much of its IT, created a business alignment review board of staff to ensure that new IT projects sync with its business plans.
