13 Percent of CIOs Plan to Add IT Jobs in Q4 2006
Enterprise Systems on September 26, 2006
The North American IT job market looks brighter for the fourth quarter of 2006 than it has in some time, according to staffing firm Robert Half Technology. Thirteen percent of CIOs plan to hire new folks in the coming quarter, while just 3 percent expect to make job cuts. There is surprisingly strong demand for help desk and end user support professionals, continuing a trend that Robert Half Technology has noted for the past few quarters. Nineteen percent of CIOs cited installation or development of companywide applications as a reason for hiring, indicating that U.S. firms are beginning to tackle large and labor-intensive IT projects. The most sought-after skills are Windows 2000 Server or Windows Server 2003 expertise, followed by network administration (Cisco, Nortel and Novell technologies) and database management skills.
