Software's SOA Buzz Yielding Dividends

The SOA trend is causing the corporate IT pendulum to swing from buy to build strategies, and companies that have SOA-enabling offerings are feeling the financial results. IBM's second-quarter earnings beat analysts' expectations, due largely to its SOA-leaning software group. Middleware vendors TIBCO and BEA are also seeing improved financials. Oracle's Fusion middleware has surpassed $1 billion in sales for the current fiscal year. Even packaged software vendors like SAP are using SOA concepts to improve flexibility — and sales.
