Microsoft's Xen Virtualization Pact
The Register on July 18, 2006
Under a new agreement with XenSource, Microsoft will permit what this piece calls "Xen-enabled" Linux operating systems to run on virtualization software that will ship with its yet-to-be-seen Longhorn server, due out at the end of next year. The software giant will also support the Xen-friendly OSes. Meanwhile, XenSource isn't slacking in its efforts to steal Windows users. With the open source company's version of Xen for Windows coupled with the license it holds for Microsoft's Virtual Hard Disk format, users can switch Windows virtual OS images to Xen virtual OS images.
