Business First, Say Members of CIO Panel
Computerworld Australia on June 01, 2006
There's nothing really new in this roundup of comments from a panel of CIOs at the recent Retail Systems 2006 conference. Two of the main themes: ensuring that technology remains subservient to business processes and that tech pulls its own weight in making a positive impact on the bottom line. Still, the article is packed with good suggestions (e.g., at retailer Family Dollar, cross-functional teams of IT and business personnel consult with the CIO, and most major IT projects have a dedicated business sponsor). And some of these quotes would probably look good on a plaque in your office. From AutoZone's CIO: "If I haven't delivered the business benefit, I haven't achieved success."
