Globalization, the Internet and the shift from a "push" manufacturing model to a "pull" model (the so-called demand-driven supply chain) have all combined to create a new set of risks and responsibilities for IT groups. Globalization in particular affects every aspect of supply chain management, and it's rarely planned. Companies simply realize one morning that half their sources are no longer domestic.
