Small Business Technology for Dummies
Small Business Computing.com on February 01, 2006
The CEO of a company that rents and sells renovated mannequins to customers around the world got a crash course in tech spending when her business was selected as the winner of a contest sponsored by Intel and the Small Business Technology Institute. With the $100,000 spending credit she received, she will invest in a NetSuite system to bolster back-office tasks such as inventory and accounting by integrating them with front-office processes. She also plans to create an automated inventory management system that utilizes RFID. While the $1-per-tag cost of RFID is pretty steep, it makes sense for use on the pricey mannequins. The final piece of her prize will go toward purchasing wireless notebooks with EV-DO, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities plus Webcams; her five independent contractors will be able to film mannequins in the field and send images to the home office.
