Wide Area Networks

Resource Center
A Wide Area Network (WAN) is a data communications network that spans a relatively large geographic area. In contrast, a Local Area Network (LAN) covers a network of computers and printers in one office (or home).

A WAN connects two or more locations (LANs) via transmission facilities such as leased telephone lines or a broadband cable line. The Internet, as a public domain, is the world’s largest WAN.

Check out the WAN Resource Center for late-breaking information on networking technologies, product news, vendor developments and how the business sector is using WANs to connect and expand the global commerce environment.
