Laptop computers (aka laptops or notebooks) have become as common as desktop units and have proven to be even more practical than a desktop for any employee with frequent travel outside of the office or those who work both in the office and at home.

With the freedom of a laptop comes a new set of security concerns, for both the unit itself and the data contained within. Consumer privacy regulations, such as HIPAA or PCI DSS, require that all consumer personal information be secured from unauthorized retrieval. In addition, remote network access to company data and applications requires different security precautions.

Check out the Laptop Resource Center for up-to-date information on product reviews, leading-edge security measures, mobile working best practices and vendor profiles, along with commentary from industry gurus on how to balance the benefits of a portable network versus the challenges of data safety.
