    MITRE came in at number one, with an average satisfaction rating of 4.5 out of 5.  Work-life balance is very real and everyone is encouraged to take time off and keep their work hours under control.

    At number two, North Highland scored a solid 4.5 out of 5 with very satisfied employees. One employee commented that “They’re serious about work/life balance. You really have the freedom to mold your own career path.”

    In third place, Agilent Technologies shows a real commitment to work-life balance and scored a 4.4 out of 5. They respect and value their employees and their families.

    SAS joins this list in fourth place, with an employee work-life satisfaction rating of 4.4 out of 5. Employees enjoy a good work/life balance and the company offers countless benefits (not just health insurance…) like aquatic center, onsite childcare, subsidized meals at the onsite cafes, gym, and list goes on and on and on.

    At number 5, CareerBuilder provides employees with a great environment with a good balance between home and work, casual dress code and abundant knowledge sharing. They rated 4.4 out 5.

    In sixth place, REI was rated at 4.3 out of 5. Employees commented that the work/life balance is a core value at REI. Managers are serious and care about the work/life balance of employees.

    National Instruments joins the list at number seven, also receiving a rating of 4.3 out of 5. Employees feel that the company supports personal initiatives and encourages people’s many interests, both work- and hobby-related.

    LinkedIn comes in at number eight with a rating of 4.3 out of 5. Staff members commented that they “love the workout sessions and work-life balance that is encouraged.”

    FactSet also received a work-life balance rating of 4.3 out of 5. Employees said FactSet provides “excellent benefits and extremely flexible scheduling (i.e., if you need to work at home, take time for a medical appointment).”

    At number 10, United Space Alliance received 4.3 out of 5. Employees said that United Space Alliance provides flexible hours, good health insurance, and a great work environment.

    Rackspace joins the list at number 11 with a work-life balance rating of 4.2 out of 5. Employees said that the company provides outstanding training and advancement opportunities, great culture and working environment, emphasis on personal fulfillment and job satisfaction, flexible schedules and good benefits.

    At number 12, Orbitz Worldwide was also rated at 4.2 out of 5. The company provides flexible hours, and one employee stated that they have a “dynamic leadership team who has a clear vision and are able to inspire – not just in the U.S., but in Europe where [the employee] work[s].”

    Novell employees registered a work-life balance rating of 4.2 out of 5. One employee commented, “The salary and benefits are competitive for the local IT industry. Novell has a great culture and facilities (on-site fitness center, cafeteria, credit union, etc.) in Provo and offers a flexible work environment. The best part of working at Novell are the awesome people you get to work with every day and the many challenges and opportunities to help solve.”

    Susquehanna International Group made the list at 14 with a work-life balance rating of 4.2 out of 5. Employees say that the company promotes a good work/life balance by allowing flexible schedules.

    With a rating of 4.2 out of 5, Shalom Consulting has employees who are also very satisfied with their work-life balance. Employees say that the company provides a highly flexible work environment.

    Discover also received a work-life balance rating of 4.2 out of 5. Employees enjoy working there and say that the culture is laid back without much need for overtime.

There are a lot of opportunities for growth and the company is very good at letting employees run with their ideas with strong internal support.”

    Citrix comes in nineteenth with a work-life balance rating of 4.2 out of 5. Employees say the company provides very flexible work schedules, with options to work from home.

    Hitachi Data Systems also received a work-life balance of 4.2 out of 5. Employees feel the company provides a great balance and expects you to “come in, do good work, and then go home and have a life.”

    With a work-life balance rating of 4.1 out of 5, Southern California Edison employees say the company is a “great place to work while raising kids because of the flexible work schedules.”

    Bain & Company comes in with a work-life balance rating of 4.1 out 5. Employees say that company is a “great place in terms of work/life balance. Managers are very fair about letting employees use their vacation time and are understanding when unexpected scenarios present themselves.”
