Puppet Labs asked respondents what skills they look for when hiring for DevOps roles. Coding and scripting skills were high on the list. Also desired: people skills and process re-engineering skills, indicating a strong need for collaborative,  holistic thinkers. 

Puppet Labs recently surveyed more than 4,000 IT operations professionals in its annual survey on the state of DevOps. This year's survey indicated a substantial increase in the DevOps adoption rate across organizations of all sizes, located in more than 90 countries.

Puppet Labs believes this trend is due to the real business value that DevOps provides - value that is indicated by key performance metrics corresponding to agility and reliability.
