Attunity Partners with Open Text on Data Management

Dan Berthiaume

Attunity Ltd. is partnering with Open Text Corp. to market advanced data connectivity solutions which will leverage Attunity's legacy data connectivity and data capture technology.

By combining the two sets of technologies, the software companies hope to provide real-time data integration which will allow organizations to optimize business operations by making the right data available at the right time. The partnership is expected to produce three solutions: Legacy Decommissioning, Data Lifecycle Management and Real-Time Data Warehousing.

Legacy Decommissioning will combine Attunity's existing connectivity to mainframe and other legacy systems with Open Text's enterprise content management suite to enable users to decommission legacy data and unify it with corporate content and other assets in an enterprise archive. This legacy data management will support the adoption of new systems, reduce maintenance costs and streamline business processes.

Data Lifecycle Management will allow users to transform corporate data for delivery to business users, while Real-Time Data Warehousing will enable users to leverage change data capture functionality for frequent loading or replication to better understand the history of their data.

Any enterprise that has been in business for any length of time most likely has obsolete legacy systems, possibly including mainframes, which hold huge volumes of data. Even though this data is aging, it still potentially holds information that can provide strategic advantage, but only if it is unlocked and integrated with more modern data storage and analysis systems. In addition, the constant stream of solution upgrades most enterprises go through means that even data stored on more recently installed systems can easily become siloed and isolated.
