Abiquo Extends Virtualization Management Service

Michael Vizard

Abiquohas updated its virtual machine management service to add support for Xen virtual machines from Citrix.

Version 1.6 of the service, which not only manages virtual machines via the cloud but also allows IT organizations to shift virtual machine images across VMware, Microsoft Hyper V and Citrix Xen servers, also adds support for VLANs, iSCSI storage systems, version 0.9 of the forthcoming vCloud platform from VMware, and a new published API that make integrating with the Abiquo service simpler.

As IT organizations continue to struggle with virtualization management, Abiquo CEO Pete Malcolm says many will find it easier to manage virtual machine deployments in cloud computing scenarios via a service given their own limited access to virtual machine management tools.

In the near future, Malcolm says that Abiquo also intends to make available disaster and recovery solutions that are enabled and managed via the Abiquo service.
