Melbourne Internal Medicine Associates created the IT Job Shadowing Program Policy to help the IT department in its understanding of the various roles and responsibilities within the organization. The program is designed to allow IT personnel a glimpse into the workday of staff by observation of normal duties and procedures within other departments for a period of no less than two hours, twice per year.

Knowledge of the various roles and responsibilities throughout the organization can assist IT personnel in resolving issues with systems and foster a more empathic understanding of difficulties encountered due to system outages, failures or inadequacies.
