Is Microsoft Gazelle a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing?

Microsoft is getting ready to detail how a Gazelle research project will improve security by tightening the relationship between the Windows operating system and the browser. The question is would such an effort really improve security or is this just another effort to innovate by assimilation at the expense of third-party security vendors?
