Windows 7 to Officially be Called Windows 7

The next version of Windows will be called Windows 7. For the first time in the company's history, Microsoft decided to stick with the codename for the next version of its operating system. Mike Nash, corporate vice president for Windows Product Management, said the name was chosen for the sake of simplicity.

 

Windows 7 is expected to be available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions by 2010, reports heise online. The new OS will be compatible with Windows Vista and its kernel will be based on Windows Server 2008.
