Twitter Coming to TV

Susan Hall

The Associated Press reports that Twitter wants to do a TV series. The story in The Boston Globe says "The show would harness Twitter to put players on the trail of celebrities in an interactive, competitive format." Variety says novelist/screenwriter Amy Ephron created the TV show and took it to Twitter.

Everybody, of course, has been pressuring the microblogging service to come up with a way to make money and co-founder Biz Stone says he doesn't want it to include advertising.

Stone, in a blog, says there is no "official" Twitter TV show, but " we have a lightweight, non-exclusive agreement with the producers [Reveille productions and Brillstein Entertainment Partners], which helps them move forward more freely." He also says MTV, G4, CNN, E! and various independent production companies "are all leveraging Twitter for fun new projects."
