SAP Bets on 'On-Demand' Software

SAP's new Co-Chief Executives Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe have pledged to make the company more agile, both in innovation and in acquisitions, reports BusinessWeek.

They told reporters and analysts Monday that they're taking an engineering approach to push products out the door, especially on the nternet and on mobile devices. Blogger Mike Vizard writes that SAP will be working with Capgemini on that.

The San Jose Mercury News quotes them criticizing rival Oracle's strategy of following IBM's model for selling high-performance systems. But they said customers want to work with a variety of hardware vendors to make technology fit their business needs.
