Ruiz Resigns as Globalfoundries Chairman

Posted by Susan Hall Nov 2, 2009 10:12:23 AM

Hector Ruiz, former head of AMD who has been linked to the Galleon insider-trading scheme, is resigning as chairman of AMD spinoff Globalfoundries, reports Bloomberg.

The New York Times reports Ruiz will be on leave until Jan. 4, when his resignation takes effect. Alan E. Ross will become chairman on an interim basis.

Prosecutors allege that Ruiz provided nonpublic information about AMD to Danielle Chiesi, a defendant in the case.

IBM announced Friday that Robert Moffat, an executive also caught up in the case, had left the company.
