Patches for Safari, Firefox

Posted by Susan Hall Apr 17, 2008 11:00:52 AM

Apple has issued a security update to Safari, including fixing a flaw that allowed a hacker in a contest last month to crack it in less than two minutes, reports Wired.

The update includes four fixes in the Windows version of Safari and two in the Mac version.

Mozilla also updated Firefox to patch a single critical security vulnerability in its JavaScript engine, according to Computerworld. The company said the patch was primarily to improve stability in the browser, but there have been instances in the past when attackers were able to exploit crashes in JavaScript's garbage collector.
