Mashing up Business, Social Info with IBM

Susan Hall

IBM has unveiled a revamped Web 2.0 platform with tools to let non-programmers create mashups and an updated Lotus Connections 2.0, its enterprise-oriented social networking software.

Lotus Mashups uses a browser-based visual tool and pre-built widgets to display information, according to News.com. A business user could put weather information together with a retail-management program to adjust inventories as needed. Or put traffic information with outbound warehouse information to improve delivery times.

The updated social-networking software Connections integrates the mashup technology and other features, reports internetnews.com. The stories put the beta of Connections out in the first half of the year and Mashups out in the middle of the year.
