iPhone Could Face Class Action Lawsuit

Posted by Kara Reeder Jul 31, 2007 3:24:36 PM

It's probably no surprise that Apple's iPhone could be facing a class action lawsuit over battery replacement.

Jose Trujillo has filed suit in Cook County, Ill., claiming Apple has violated the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Act because the iPhone's battery lasts for only 300 charges and he was not aware that it was soldered into the phone. But as this Monsters & Critics article points out, Apple already disclosed these facts when it released the iPhone.

Trujillo isn't the only one upset with Apple's battery replacement program. Ars Technica reports that the New York State Consumer Protection Board is jumping on the battery bandwagon with a letter to Apple asking the company to change its policies so it is easier for customers to fix their iPhones.

This follows a letter from the Foundation for Consumer and Taxpayer Rights earlier this month that says Apple is leaving consumers in the dark about battery replacement.
