Intel's Centrino 2 Launch Party Joined by New Sony Laptops

After an initial delay, Intel finally launched its Centrino 2 platform for laptops. According to The INQUIRER, the platform is powered by five Intel Core Duo processors, touts improved battery life and features new anti-theft technology.

 

Sony celebrated the platform launch by releasing four new VAIO laptops based on the Centrino 2. The 16.4-inch VAIO FW, 13.3-inch VAIO SR, 13.1-inch VAIO Z and 15.4-inch VAIO BZ will use the 45nm mobile processors.

 

Crave reports that Sony's BZ line will cater more to the business user with a spill-resistant keyboard, hard drive shock protection and Intel's vPro management software. Windows Vista is standard, but some models will have an XP downgrade available.
