Intel's new line of Xeon processors are of the eco-friendly variety. The four new Xeon 5400 processors are built from a process that uses a Halfium-based, high-k metal gate formula, reports The Register. The high-k gate technology allows less voltage leaks than previously technology, making the chips run cooler and using less power as a result.
According to vnunet.com, the new line features three quad-core chips and one dual-core model. All the processors feature 45nm construction and are designed for use in high-end workstations, blade servers and conventional servers.
