Google to Let News Sources Comment on Stories

Susan Hall

Google News plans to allow people in the United States who are involved in news stories to add comments to the Web page, reports PCWorld.com.

It purports to have people who will verify the identities of these news subjects before the comments are posted.

Digital Trends notes these unedited comments will offer a quoted person the chance to rebut the way a quote was used or even say it's not what he or she said at all.

"Is this freaking nuts or what" asks Cynthia Brumfield, blogging on IP Democracy, adding:

All I can say is that Google must have a lot of people standing by to handle this new experiment.
