Google Faces Toolbar Suit

Kara Reeder

Google is facing a lawsuit filed on behalf of plaintiff Jason Weber over the way Google Toolbar functions.

According to InformationWeek, the suit claims that the Google Toolbar continued to track Web use even after such tracking was supposed to be disabled. The complaint states:

Google has provided users inadequate and misleading disclosures regarding Toolbar and the control mechanisms that purport to implement users' Toolbar preferences ... Unbeknownst to users, these controls do not work as described.

Google has not commented on the lawsuit.
