Former Employee Sues Google For Sexual, Religious Discrimination

Posted by Kara Reeder Nov 3, 2009 10:39:39 AM

James Bara, a former Google employee and practicing Wiccan, is suing the search giant for sexual and religious discrimination in violation of the Civil Rights Act.

According to InformationWeek, Bara alleges that a manager in Google's Atlanta office, Pam Sohn, made several jokes about the sexual orientation of a female transgendered employee and made inappropriate comments about his religion. He claims there was work force retaliation following his numerous human resources complaints. Bara says he was fired in "an obvious, transparent, and classic act of retaliation."

Google has not commented on the suit.
