Dell Cashing in on Twitter

Susan Hall

While Twitter is still working out a plan to make money, Dell says it has made $3 million through Twitter since 2007, when it started offering coupons and tweets about new products, reports The New York Times.

SiliconRepublic.com reports that the number of people following @DellOutlet has grown from 11,000 to 60,000 since January. It has a number of other Twitter sites as well.

The company also has 200 employees who talk to customers on Twitter, and for instance, made changes in the design of the Dell Mini 10 laptop based on customer complaints.
