While very few details are known thus far, Corning's upcoming debut of its Gorilla Glass 2 at the Consumer Electronics Show is already making waves. The new iteration is expected to be thinner and much stronger, and offer a better touchscreen experience.
PCMag provides a statement from James Steiner, Corning's senior vice president and general manager. In it, he states that the new glass design is poised to meet manufacturers' demand for "higher functionality from thinner designs."
According to Corning, Gorilla Glass can currently be found in over 575 products that come from 30 different manufacturers. Chris Burns from Slashgear believes the new formula will "improve Corning's standing in the mobile world that, at the end of 2011, saw a few major releases with Gorilla Glass noticeably missing from the equation."
