Android Provides Bounce for Swiss Software Developer

Ainsley Jones

Earlier this week, A La Mobile released a suite of applications based on Google's Android cell-phone platform. Today, Bloomberg.com reports Esmertec, a Swiss developer of software for Google's mobile-phone system, said annual sales may have beaten its forecast on demand for wireless features. Last September the developer predicted 2007 revenue of $33.5 million. Esmertec CEO, Thomas Hornung, says the company will meet this and a little more. Esmertec, which joined the Open Handset Alliance on Nov. 5, expects to see an impact in the second half of this year when phones using Android software become available. The company is due to report its earnings Feb. 21.
