Many Drawbacks to Single-Source RFP

Posted by Susan Hall Nov 9, 2009 1:01:38 PM

In a piece on CIO.com, consultancy Pace Harmon's Steve Martin advises against submitting a single RFP for multiple outsourcing services.

Though going with a big all-in-one vendor has its benefits, such as offering a "single throat to choke," he says true end-to-end service management "rarely happens in practice." He says the list of disadvantages of a single RFP is long.

The article quotes him saying:

Single sourcing diminishes a customer's leverage over the vendor, and over time, can create vendor complacency.
