eBay Says Fewer than 60 to be Laid Off

Posted by Susan Hall Oct 15, 2009 3:59:14 PM

Online auction site eBay has confirmed that layoffs will be part of an "organizational fine-tuning" to streamline and simplify its management structure, according to a Dow Jones story in The Wall Street Journal.

It said fewer than 60 jobs will be cut from its global work force of 15,000. Spokesman John Pluhowski told Valleywag the cuts would fall primarily within the product and technology areas. The company ignored rumors that pink slips would be handed out Thursday and said employees will be notified within a week.
