Worm Infiltrates Yahoo Messenger

Kara Reeder

A new worm set its sights on the Yahoo Messenger community and infected an unknown number of users after tricking them into clicking on a link disguised as "foto" or "fotos" from someone in their contact list, eSecurity Planet reports.

The article explains:

Once the program is executed, the worm copies itself to %WinDir%infocard.exe, then it adds itself to the Windows Firewall List, stops the Windows Updates service and looks for the Yahoo Messenger application on the user's PC.

Users running Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows XP, Windows Me, Windows Vista, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 operating systems have been affected.
