In an effort to get help from users in fighting spam, Twitter has added a "Report as spam" feature, according to CNET News.
Folks can now help us conquer spam by calling our attention to a profile they find questionable. Click the 'Report as spam' button under the Actions section of a profile's sidebar and our Trust and Safety team will check it out to see what needs to be done.
To prevent misuse of the feature, Twitter will not take any automated action, reports ITProPortal. In addition, a spammer will not be able to follow or reply to the complainant, thus preventing further spamming to the account.
ZDNet blogger Jennifer Leggio likes the idea, but she says there is still work to be done.
This is a decent attempt from Twitter to help give the users more control in reporting spammers ... However, regardless of how good the spam reporting is, Twitter still need to get more serious about what it's doing to stop spammers and bots in the first place.
