Trend Micro Reports Stopping 4 Billion Threats a Day

Posted by Kara Reeder Oct 27, 2009 10:18:39 AM

Trend Micro boasts that its Smart Protection Network, which combines cloud-based reputation technology with behavioral analysis techniques, blocks an average of more than 4 billion threats a day, according to V3.co.uk.

Even though SPN has been up and running for 16 months, it saw substantial growth between the third quarter of 2008 and the second quarter of 2009 -- the number of global user queries surged 289 percent to more than 29 billion a day. Trend Micro senior security analyst Rick Ferguson expects the trend to continue:

We fully expect these numbers to increase as more people use the technology and the threats increase in volume, as historically they always have.
