Take Precautions to Prevent Violence

Posted by Susan Hall Nov 19, 2008 2:51:09 PM

Following up on the killings at a Santa Clara chip company last week, The San Jose Mercury News talked to experts about heading off workplace violence.

IT Business Edge's Rob Enderle wrote earlier that these turbulent economic times could lead to such tragedies. In a separate post, he wrote about how not to do a layoff.

The experts in the Mercury News story advised knowing as much as possible about people you plan to terminate. In the case of a mass layoff, be as upfront as possible about what will happen and when. Perhaps most important, don't let any of them back in the building.

And as this eWEEK story adds, cut off all access to your systems ASAP.
