Sun Updates Java Runtime Environment

Kara Reeder

Sun Microsystems has updated its Java Runtime Environment to fix several bugs, including multiple security issues.

According to vnunet.com, Version 1.6.0_13 (or JRE 6 Update 13) addresses flaws that could be used for remote code execution, elevate privileges and cause a denial-of-service crash. The H Security notes that Java JDK and JRE versions 5.0 update 17 and 6 Update 12 and earlier versions of both on Windows, Linux and Solaris are affected, but versions 1.4.2 and 1.3.1 are not affected.

The update comes just days after Sun updated its Java System Identity Manager software to fix nine vulnerability issues.
