Rustock Botnet Returns

Kara Reeder

After taking a break over the holidays, the Rustock botnet is back, spewing mostly pharma spam, reports TG Daily. Symantec says Rustock is again the world's biggest source of spam.

As International Business Times explains, the Rustock botnet is made up of an estimated 150,000 computers and can send around 30 billion spam messages a day. With Rustock up and running again, Symantec's MessageLabs says it wouldn't be a surprise if global spam levels jumped back up to about 90 percent.
