Pirated Copies of Windows 7 RC Contain Trojan

Kara Reeder

InfoWorld reports that pirated copies of the Windows 7 Release Candidate appearing on file-sharing sites contain a Trojan. It's unclear what the exact name of the Trojan is. One commenter on a Mininova.org discussion thread called the malware a generic Trojan, while another identified it as the "Falder" Trojan.

Microsoft took the opportunity to encourage people to steer clear of unauthorized downloads.

"This unfortunately shows that there are those out there who see the significant interest in something such as Windows 7 as an opportunity to try to take advantage of others."
