Phone Hackers Leave $52,000 Bill

Posted by Susan Hall Dec 22, 2008 1:35:42 PM

A Winnipeg businessman is left with a $52,000 bill after hackers broke into his office system and made hundreds of calls to Bulgaria, reports CBCnews.ca.

Alan Davison, owner of HUB Computer Solutions, thinks the phone company, Manitoba Telecom Services, should have alerted him when his company's bill grew far beyond its monthly average of $500.

Manitoba Telecom says it was only the long-distance carrier and its equipment was not involved in the fraud. It's also offering Davison no relief from the bill, which is due Jan. 2.
