Information on nearly 800,000 people associated with South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Mass., may be at risk after computer files went missing when they were shipped to a contractor to be destroyed, according to boston.com.
The PatriotLedger.com reports that the backup files contained information, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and driver's license numbers, on patients, employees, physicians, volunteers, donors and business partners associated with South Shore between Jan. 1, 1996, and Jan. 6, 2010.
South Shore officials say there is no indication that the information has been misused.
