IDC Survey: Corporate E-mail Security No Good

Posted by Kara Reeder Oct 22, 2008 9:31:40 AM

According to a survey by IDC, 72 percent of companies are unable to stop data leaks via e-mail.

Although 85 percent of IT managers say they are concerned about the matter, current solutions are not getting the job done, reports vnunet.com. In fact, nine out of 10 do not have effective spam filters in place, which means more messages are getting through security systems.

Secure Computing says the IDC survey indicates that companies are not keeping up with advancing security technology. So it has established an initiative called Seven Technologies for Advanced Mail Protection. Among the technologies Secure says are necessary are real-time, multi-protocol reputation-based messaging security, multi-tiered inbound defenses and complete content detection.
