Kara Reeder

According to Computerworld, Heartland Payment Systems will pay Discover $5 million to settle claims stemming from the massive data breach disclosed by the payment processor last year.

Heartland CEO Robert Carr says:

This settlement marks our final agreement with a card brand related to the intrusion.

The payment processor has already reached settlements with MasterCard, Visa and American Express. In addition to settling with the credit card companies, a federal court in Texas has given preliminary approval to a $4 million settlement of a consumer class-action lawsuit.
