Hacker Releases Code for Attack on Microsoft IIS Server

Posted by Kara Reeder Sep 1, 2009 10:10:27 AM

A hacker has posted code to the Milw0rm Web site to exploit a flaw that lies in the File Transfer Protocol software. According to Computerworld, this flaw could be used to take over a system running Microsoft IIS server.

Apparently, the code works on Windows 2000, while running the older IIS 5.0 server. Newer versions of Windows have features that make the flaw less serious, says independent researcher Thierry Zoller.
