Gmail Users Hit with Black out, Then Phishing Scam

Posted by Kara Reeder Feb 25, 2009 1:49:39 PM

Google Gmail users were hit with a widespread phishing attack hours after a worldwide outage. According to The Register, the malicious message spread through the Google Talk instant messaging chat system and urges users to view a video. The link directs users to a website called ViddyHo, which asks for Gmail usernames and passwords.

But Google's messaging system isn't the only one being targeted, notes vnunet.com. Users of Yahoo, Microsoft and MySpace accounts also have fallen victim.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the site has now been blacklisted, but users who visited it are urged to change thier password.
