Firefox Tops Bit9's 'Dirty Dozen' List of Vulnerable Apps

Posted by Kara Reeder Dec 12, 2008 1:12:16 PM

Bit9 has released its list of the 12 most vulnerable applications commonly found behind corporate firewalls.

According to vnunet.com, Mozilla's open source Firefox browser tops the list, followed by Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Windows Live (MSN) Messenger.

The applications are ranked according to popularity, the number and severity of vulnerabilities, and the difficulty of detecting and patching those vulnerabilities for IT administrators. InformationWeek notes that while most of the cited vulnerabilities have been fixed, the list is meant to highlight the fact that the patches aren't easily deployed by IT administrators.

Bit9's press release provides a link to download the full research report.
