End of Decade Causes Problems for Symantec

Kara Reeder

The new year has brought problems for Symantec. According to InfoWorld, the company is warning that its Endpoint Protection Manager server product is falsely marking signature updates issued this year as out of date.

Symantec's blog notes that anti-virus, anti-spyware, and intrusion protection updates with "a date greater than December 31, 2009 11:59pm are considered to be 'out of date.'" The company has created a workaround for the problem by issuing updates with new revision numbers but with the Dec. 31 date.
